Hollywood is preparing for a major superhero shake-up as studios introduce a new generation of stars to some of the entertainment industry’s most iconic comic-book and fantasy characters. Marvel continues to expand its cinematic universe, while other studios revive classic franchises with fresh faces.
Ryan Gosling Takes on Ghost Rider
After years of fan speculation, Ryan Gosling is officially joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Ghost Rider. Marvel unveiled his casting during San Diego Comic-Con, confirming a role that Gosling has publicly expressed interest in for years.
Director Shawn Levy will helm the upcoming standalone film, which currently targets a 2028 release. Gosling will take over the role after Nicolas Cage, who played the supernatural antihero in the 2007 film and its 2011 sequel.

Kit Connor Reportedly Eyes Cyclops Role
Heartstopper star Kit Connor is reportedly in talks to play Scott Summers, or Cyclops, in Marvel Studios’ upcoming X-Men reboot.
Marvel has not officially confirmed the casting, but Connor has emerged as a leading choice to portray the iconic mutant leader. Cyclops uses powerful optic blasts and controls them through his signature visor.
James Marsden and Tye Sheridan previously played the character. Jake Schreier will direct the new X-Men film.
Nicholas Galitzine Becomes He-Man
Nicholas Galitzine will play Prince Adam, better known as He-Man, in the live-action adaptation of Masters of the Universe.
Director Travis Knight will take audiences back to Eternia, where Adam embraces his destiny and prepares to battle Skeletor, played by Jared Leto.
Galitzine will bring a modern interpretation to the legendary hero, following Dolph Lundgren, who portrayed He-Man in the 1987 film.
Sadie Sink Joins the MCU as Jean Grey
After months of speculation about her role in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, Sadie Sink has officially been revealed as Jean Grey.
Her casting introduces one of Marvel’s most powerful mutants to the MCU and could help establish the foundation for future X-Men stories. Jean Grey possesses powerful telepathic and telekinetic abilities and maintains a strong connection to the Phoenix Force.
Famke Janssen and Sophie Turner previously portrayed the character in the X-Men film series.
David Jonsson Takes on the Black Panther Legacy
Marvel has also selected David Jonsson as the next Black Panther. The Alien: Romulus actor will portray an adult Prince T’Challa II, the son of T’Challa and Nakia.
The character first appeared as a child during the post-credit scene of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. Jonsson’s casting opens a new chapter for Wakanda following the death of Chadwick Boseman, whose portrayal of King T’Challa became one of the MCU’s most celebrated performances.
Marvel currently plans to release Black Panther 3 in December 2028.
A New Generation Takes Over
These major casting choices signal a new chapter for superhero cinema. Ryan Gosling, Kit Connor, Sadie Sink, Nicholas Galitzine and David Jonsson will bring their own interpretations to characters that audiences already know and love.
From Marvel’s mutants and Ghost Rider to the return of He-Man, Hollywood continues to refresh established franchises while introducing these iconic heroes to a new generation of viewers.
