Both Houses began the session with customary proceedings, including obituary references to several prominent personalities. However, the atmosphere quickly turned tense as Opposition MPs demanded an immediate discussion on alleged examination irregularities and the ongoing student protests.
In the Rajya Sabha, Leader of Opposition Mallikarjun Kharge raised concerns over the alleged question paper leaks and the situation at Jantar Mantar. He accused the government of ignoring students’ concerns and urged the Chair to allow a discussion on the issue.

Repeated Disruptions Stall Rajya Sabha
The protests forced the Rajya Sabha Chair to adjourn the House several times. Chairman V.P. Radhakrishnan appealed to MPs to maintain order and use parliamentary procedures to raise their concerns.
To help resolve the deadlock, he also called a meeting of the Business Advisory Committee to discuss ways to restore normal proceedings.
Lok Sabha Faces Similar Disruptions
The Lok Sabha also witnessed heated scenes as Opposition MPs raised slogans over examination irregularities and student protests.
The disruptions prevented MPs from taking up the scheduled legislative agenda. The Speaker adjourned the House repeatedly, and both Houses eventually adjourned until 2 p.m. without conducting substantial business.
PM Modi Appeals for Smooth Functioning
Before the session began, Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the media outside Parliament and appealed to all political parties to ensure smooth proceedings.
Modi urged Opposition leaders to participate in constructive debates and use Parliament as a platform to discuss issues affecting the country. He emphasized that political differences should find resolution through dialogue and parliamentary debate rather than repeated disruptions.

The government plans to introduce and discuss several important bills and policy matters during the Monsoon Session. However, the Opposition has signalled that it will continue raising concerns over question paper leaks, student protests and examination reforms.
